Imagine a time when medicine was at the crossroads of science and art. It is in this context, in 1854, that the Testut-Latarjet museum was created at the request of the director of the medical preparatory school in Lyon. In its early days, the Hôtel-Dieu housed these anatomical treasures bequeathed by the surgeon Marc-Antoine Petit. Over the years, the museum evolved and merged with other medical institutions, becoming an essential training ground for future doctors in Lyon. In 1930, it moved to the Rockefeller estate in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon.musée Testut-Latarjet Lyon

The Testut-Latarjet museum, closed since 2015, is set to reopen its doors in the coming months in Rillieux-la-Pape. The collections, currently hidden in the shadows of the Ostérode neighborhood, will finally see the light of day. Inside, you can find hundreds of pieces related to the worst things ever done to the human anatomy. The Museum of Medical Sciences and Health - Testut Latarjet Anatomy Museum includes: cranial deformities, eunuch skeletons, fetuses in jars, the history of drugs, and famous crime cases explained in detail to an eager audience.
