From May 3 to 5, 28 French opera houses are opening their doors for free to the public for the "Tous à l'Opéra" initiative, including the magnificent Opera de Lyon. In this Olympic year, the event, celebrating its 17th edition, puts team spirit in the spotlight with the ambition to show that opera is accessible to all.

A Diversified Programming

You've never been able to step through the doors of this imposing and mysterious building that has always intrigued you? This is the perfect opportunity! Get ready for the most hidden secrets of your favorite operas to be revealed to you. Through public rehearsals, costume and makeup workshops, backstage tours, shows, and concerts, you will have the opportunity to discover the other side of this marvelously well-constructed set. A way to become familiar with the stage professions, but also all the arts and crafts professions that are associated with them, to fully immerse yourself in this unique world that is the world of entertainment.

An exceptional godfather

For this edition, it's none other than Guillaume Diop, Principal Dancer at the Paris National Opera Ballet, who has accepted to be the godfather of Tous à l’Opéra. Despite his young age (24 years old, note), he is already among the greatest dancers in the world. Acclaimed internationally for his roles in the most iconic ballets - Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Giselle and many others - he was named Principal Dancer at the Paris Opera Ballet in March 2023, making him the first black artist to join the company.
