Open for almost 3 years now, right in the heart of the Presqu'île and the Antique district, Institut Selva has blossomed into a go-to place for wellness in Lyon. Originally, “selva” means virgin rainforest or jungle in Spanish. So it’s no surprise that the name was chosen intentionally, and the overall ambiance of this 100 m² space completely transports us. You’ll find a natural and botanical universe, featuring a stunning cherry tree made of driftwood. The decor is set (and that’s putting it mildly).
The strength of Institut Selva lies in its versatility. The space is divided into three distinct and varied areas. First up is a boutique section, which we’ll call the treasure room of nature! Around you, there’s a selection of the best organic and natural cosmetics brands, all zero waste and local, meant to enhance your beauty from head to toe. On the agenda: facial and body treatments, natural shampoos and solid deodorants, essential oils, green nail polish and makeup, as well as products for men and children, and cold-saponified soaps. You’ll find favorites like Secrets de Loly, Manucurist with Greenflash, La Canopée, and Zao, among others.
Massages, treatments, and DIY workshops
Next, we step into the spa area (composed of two treatment rooms) where three experienced practitioners take care of your well-being and beauty. The menu, rich and recently expanded, includes many natural treatments to rejuvenate you deeply and a variety of services such as hair removal, manicures or green nail polish, organic makeup, and various massages, either solo or as a duo (only €120 for two!), lymphatic drainage, scrubs, prenatal massages, hot stone massages, candle massages, and more... A must-know: the house specialty is the custom facial treatment. A professional will start by diagnosing your skin to select the natural products suited to your needs and skin type. They then perform a complete treatment using the appropriate products.
It's worth mentioning that the big hit at the salon right now is the Kobido facial treatment, an ancient Japanese facial massage combined with a tailored skincare service. It's a wonderful moment of well-being with lifting effects for your skin. In short, there's a complete menu with everything you need to take care of yourself, offering a precious moment of escape and relaxation in a warm and welcoming environment.
The third area of the Institut Selva boutique is specially dedicated to DIY workshops that are regularly offered. It's the perfect opportunity to come and create your own custom fragrance, natural cosmetics, aromatherapy products, and more generally everything that can enhance the feeling of well-being that we all seek.
