Metro ridership remains high, and the issue of accessibility can no longer be secondary. The escalators will start being replaced from 2027, in a gradual renewal process.Modernization is not just limited to the equipment: passenger information is also being enhanced. TCL app, website, phone line… All channels are being optimized, including notifications in case of malfunctions. For people with reduced mobility, agents from Médialys will be available from Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 7 PM, in the stations undergoing renovations. This service will primarily focus on line D, with the Monplaisir-Lumière, Bellecour, and Gorge de Loup stations being the first to benefit from the new equipment.
Enhanced maintenance starting in 2026
As of January 1, 2026, new providers will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the facilities. Pilot is by RATP Dev Lyon, these players need to ensure better availability of elevators and escalators, in line with the extensive renewal program underway.
