The Grand Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon envisions a new summer gathering inspired by the markets of southern France. If the idea comes to life, the stunning courtyards of Grand Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon could host, as early as summer 2026, a market full of sunshine, creativity, and delicious treats. The project is currently under consideration, but the ambition is clear: to transform this iconic place in Lyon into a true summer village square.
In the spirit of Provençal markets, filled with lanterns, handmade products, and sweet delights, this future gathering promises a warm atmosphere worthy of a summer evening on the Côte d’Azur… but with a Lyonnais twist.
A n appApplications are open to create the Summer 2026 Market
The organizers are looking for between 8 and 25 exhibitors to bring this future summer market to life. Creators, artisans, local producers, or original gourmet concepts: everyone is invited to participate in this upcoming first edition. The idea is to create a vibrant and eclectic market that mixes handmade creations, local products, and sweet or savory tasting stands.
The planned period runs from June 1st to July 31st, or potentially until the end of August 2026. The market is set to open at least from Wednesday to Saturday, between 6 PM and 9:30 PM, perfect for enjoying the lovely summer evenings in the historical courtyards of the site.
A turnkey concept for exhibitors
Each participant will have a dedicated space ready for setting up their stand under the best conditions. Selected exhibitors will rent an operational kit provided directly by the Grand Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon. This will include a white tent measuring 3x3 meters that can be closed on all four sides, secure storage furniture, and an individual electrical panel. The rental must be arranged...for a minimum duration of one month to ensure continuity in the market's animation. An interesting feature: subletting will be allowed, which will enable certain concepts or artisan collectives to share the space.
If the market comes to life, it will enrich the cultural and festive offerings of the city center by providing a place for leisurely strolling that mixes crafts, gastronomy, and friendly vibes. Interested individuals can already come forward to express their intention to participate and specify the desired months of operation. Applications and requests for information should be sent by email to the following address: ghd.scaprim.pm@gmail.com.
And if everything goes as planned, the majestic halls of the Grand Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon might just be the place to be!
Transform next summer into a little Provençal market, Rhône style… with lemonade, local creations, and a dolce vita atmosphere.
