Two litters of three little cheetahs were born in October and November 2024 at the Wow Safari in Peaugres, just 1 hour from Lyon. With the January arrivals, that's a total of 9 baby cheetahs born in 2024. One of the baby groups is already visible at the nursery (near the mini-farm) when the temperatures allow it. Under the protective gaze of their mom, these little balls of energy are having a blast playing, much to the delight of the visitors.

These births are unique in France and mark an important step in preserving a species classified as "Vulnerable" on the IUCN red list. With nearly 200 cheetahs born since the park opened, Peaugres ranks among the top 10 European parks performing in cheetah breeding.

A diligent effort for a big cat

Behind these births lies months of hard work from the caregivers and veterinarians, who provide cheetahs with an environment that fosters their well-being and reproduction. Nothing is left to chance: diet, habitats, and specific care are all meticulously planned.

At the same time, the park actively participates in the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP) and has been supporting the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia for over 20 years. This initiative helps protect cheetahs in their natural habitat through research, educational campaigns, and outreach within local communities.
