Founded in 1885 and located on Tupin Street, Le Crépin de Lyon is a shop specialized in leather. A place that feels like one of those timeless spots. Announced to be closing in 2022, the boutique continued to open a few days a week, trying its best to sell off its stock, simply waiting for a buyer.

Jacques Baudière, a heartfelt return to his roots
At 48 years old, Jacques Baudière has finally decided to take up the family torch, as explained by Le Progrès. A trainer by profession, he shares that the idea took a long time to mature before becoming an obvious choice. “This is a monument of Lyon,” he says proudly in comments highlighted by Actu Lyon. This sense of duty is further strengthened by his family history, as four generations have passed the legacy down.ns de Baudière took turns behind the counter.

The revival took place in an intimate and moving context. Since November 2025, Jacques has been working alongside his father, who sadly passed away in early 2026 at the age of 81. Together, they share the gestures, know-how, and secrets of the trade.
Reviving an Aladdin’s Cave
Cow hides, leather belts, shoe care products : the Cr&eacut...e;pin is a treasure in its own right. Jacques embarks on a big cleanup, bringing more light and restoring order, all while never betraying the soul of the place. The customers, both loyal and passing through, thank him every day for preventing the disappearance of this unique shop in Lyon.

Renamed Maison Baudière, the shop is entering a new era. New suppliers, partnerships with leather professionals, and even an online store are on the agenda. The goal is clear: to preserve the heritage while attracting a younger clientele and exploring new markets. Open four days a week, Jacques Baudière looks to the future with confidence. For him, a business that has been around for 130 years still has plenty to tell. And in Lyon, Le Crépins – or rather Maison Baudière – seems well on its way to writing a new chapter in its story.
