Feeling like an underground adventure without leaving the region? Head over to the La Balme Caves, one of the most spectacular natural sites around Lyon. Here, visitors dive into nearly 1.5 hours of fascinating exploration in the heart of a true mineral labyrinth. Along the way, you’ll uncover the history of the site, its impressive geological formations, and many anecdotes surrounding these mysterious caves. Guided tours take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 PM and 4 PM throughout March, a perfect time to enjoy the site in a more peaceful atmosphere. But you can also discover the caves on your own, in any direction you choose. Once back in daylight, the site offers amazing walks in the surrounding nature. The trails around the caves let you climb higher and admire stunning views of the region. On clear days, some viewpoints even offer a glimpse of the Groupama Stadium!
