When the pavement starts to melt under your sneakers and even the tram’s air conditioning throws in the towel, there’s only one option left: escape the heat. And this time, no need to run to the Lake of Nantua or hunker down in the cool supermarket gallery. The City of Lyon, well aware that summer is already turning up the heat, has rolled out its plan "Objective Coolness" with a solution that’s as simple as it is effective: opening three of its museums for free to provide Lyon residents a refreshing break, with a bonus dose of culture.
Three cultural institutions open for free
Starting Wednesday, July 2, right at noon, and lasting until Friday, entry will be free at the Museum of Fine Arts, the Contemporary Art Museum, and the Gadagne Museum (which showcases the History of Lyon and Puppetry). A fantastic opportunity for those dreaming of air conditioning without having to sit through a foreign film or a cappuccino.
for 6 euros. It's also a way for the town hall to bring a breath of solidarity to a city where summer gets a little more stifling every year.See this post on Instagram
A True Heatwave Response Arsenal
But that's not all: Lyon is rolling out a real heatwave response arsenal. There’s a hotline for practical advice (04 72 10 36 26), extended park hours (until midnight for Gerland and Blandan, 11:30 PM for Tête d).Or), lists of cool places are freely accessible, including fountains, traboules, and municipal swimming pools ready to dive into extended hours... It's far from just a publicity stunt: it's a real urban strategy to make sure no one is left out.
And because heat doesn't discriminate, a special "vulnerable persons" file has been activated by the CCAS. The most fragile are monitored, called, and advised. To register, or to register a neighbor or loved one, a registration form is available online or simply by calling Lyon direct: 04 72 10 30 30. This summer in Lyon, we might be sweating, but we won't melt into indifference.
