Losing your friends in Courchevel, hesitating over a paper map, or circling around looking for a mountain restaurant? Forget it! The Lyon-based Skiif app lets you navigate the slopes, create itineraries, locate your loved ones, avoid crowded lifts, and even alert emergency services with ultra-precise geolocation. All of this from your smartphone, gloves included (almost).
A free app made in Lyon
Developed in Limonest, Skiif has already won over more than 350,000 users. Available in over 200 European resorts, the app now covers nearly 75% of skiers. The idea was born four years ago on a ski lift when the founder Lalée Pinoncély's daughter pointed out a simple truth: skiing is one of the last places where people still rely on paper maps.
is back on the paper plan. Starting in 2022, the first tests in Méribel and Courchevel confirm the potential.See this post on Instagram
Free for skiers, Skiif charms everyone with its effectiveness and quirky vibe. Fun avatars, nods to Edgar Grospiron or Jean-Claude Dusse, an intuitive interface: here, technology is friendly and approachable. The result? An uninstall rate of less than 2% and some fantastic word-of-mouth!The economic model is based on subscriptions for the stations, geolocated advertising, and the exploitation of anonymized data.
Heading for Europe… and one million users
Awarded at ISPO 2025 in Munich, Skiif is shifting into high gear. A new fundraising effort between 2 and 5 million euros is underway to accelerate its deployment in Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Spain, and soon in the United States. Target announced this winter: to surpass 500,000 users… with a serious eye on the million mark. So, it’s safe to say that Skiif is already well on its way, full speed ahead!
