On Sunday, September 13th, certain Maison Kayser bakeries in France will offer their must-have items at the prices from that era, listed in francs and converted to euros. An anniversary operation sure to delight bread lovers… and those nostalgic for the currency from before the euro.
A baguette for 60 cents and croissants at rock-bottom prices
The result is quite spectacular: the baguette will be sold at the price of 3.92 francs, or about 60 cents in euros. Yes, you read that right. In 2026, it will be possible to leave with a baguette for less than a parking ticket. Well, almost.
The pastries will also be part of this little time-traveling experience. Croissants will return to their 1996 prices, ranging from 3 to 4 francs, or about 45 to 60 cents. A chance to turn your traditional Sunday bakery stop into a real treasure hunt for great deals.

Two Maison Kayser locations taking part in Lyon
Lyonnais residents will get to enjoy this anniversary operation at two bakeries in the city. The first is located at Place Louis-Pradel, in the 1st arrondissement, just steps away from the Opera and the Saône quays. The second is set up on Rue Victor-Hugo, in the 2nd arrondissement, on one of the main shopping streets of the Presqu'île.
