They say that Lyon is only 1h30 away from the mountains, but we wouldn't say no to an alpine spot right in the city center. Did you know that there is a lovely mountain chalet where you can indulge in comforting recipes all year round? Nestled in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon, the restaurant Les Marmottes offers an ultra-cozy decor with a mountain style made of woodwork where you can taste the pleasures of fondue, tartiflette, grilled meats and unlimited raclette. Winter doesn't have the monopoly on raclette, as the house offers unlimited self-service raclette. And we're not talking about a small raclette with the traditional machine, but about the one and only, the true one with the big half wheel of cheese grating under the grill to let its melted surface flow on your potatoes and charcuterie. All products are labeled and come from cooperatives in Haute-Savoie.
Unlimited Raclette and Alpine Specialties
A unique address in Lyon that transports us to the heart of the mountains just a minute's walk from the Saxe-Gambetta metro station. The restaurant has a capacity of 50 seats and a small terrace with 15 seats during the summer season. Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner (from September to May), Les Marmottes changes its menu each season by offering different Savoyard specialties (but don't worry, the unlimited raclette is still there).
So if you're craving mountains, good cheese or comfort, Les Marmottes is the obvious choice to give you your happiness fix. Because while melted cheese may not (necessarily) bring happiness, it certainly contributes greatly. Scout's honor!
