Since the end of 2024, Lulla has been making quite a splash... and not just a little one! Tucked away at 81 rue Masséna, this foodie spot boasts an avalanche of 5-star reviews on Google. At Lulla, you come to savor delicious sandwiches, but also to enjoy a culinary experience between two slices of bread. It’s the kind of place that turns an ordinary lunch into a seriously stylish moment.

At the heart of the project is Lucas Guiniot. A thirty-something who, during the lockdown, began experimenting with recipes in his kitchen before sharing them on social media. An instant success! From there, everything took off: culinary training, experiences between Lyon and Paris, stints at Heat, and collaborations with Ninkasi. Three years later, he opened Lulla, a fusion of his name and that of his partner, Lola. A beautiful career switch, executed with a sharp knife and well-crafted ideas.

Sandwiches that travel without leaving Lyon

At Lulla, the menu is intentionally brief but incredibly effective. Five sandwiches, including one vegetarian option and a temporary creation that changes every week. The idea? To explore without limits. One day, you’re in Italy, the next you might be in...

Mexico, always with that special home twist that makes the difference.

On the menu: Roast Chicken (with baguette, Sunday roast chicken, poultry jus, tarragon mayo & confit garlic, crunchy fennel, caper powder, mustard seed pickles, guindillas, romaine, chicken skin chips, and chili oil), Hong Shao (with potato bun, spicy mayo, Hong Shao pork belly, celeriac coleslaw - white cabbage - Thai basil & peanuts, sweet pepper pickles) or the incomparable Grilled Cheese (made with shokupan bread, garlic wilted spinach, taleggio, mozzarella, pear chutney, and Sichuan pepper). Clearly, this is top-notch for a "simple" sandwich.

A place that cares for both substance and style

What makes Lulla stand out is the attention to detail. Each sandwich comes with its own unique bread, the ingredients are thoughtfully selected and sourced, and the side dishes are there for more than just looks. The chickpea salad with grilled zucchini and za'atar, for instance, is almost worth the trip by itself. Add to that a retro 70s decor and a cool vibe, and you’ve got one of the best spots in town for lunch in Lyon.
