The Editor

Inspired by a discovery in the land of the rising sun, Gaby Didonna, founder of Oto Oto, imported a bold idea: eating in caves, or kamakura, a typical experience in Japan. These intimate little cocoons offer a meal break isolated from the rest of the room, creating an authentic atmosphere. Available for groups, these kamakura instantly transport you to the warm atmosphere of a meal among friends in Japan.

As a true Japanese izakaya, Oto Oto continues the Japanese tradition by providing a gathering place for friends after work, with a glass of sake in hand. And if eating in a cave makes you anxious, opt for the vibrant atmosphere of the main dining area. Surrounded by sake barrels and fish boxes directly imported from the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo, every detail immerses you in the very essence of typical izakayas.

Authentic Japanese cuisine without sushi

At Oto Oto, you can experience the true essence of Japanese cuisine in every bite. There's no sushi here (except for a few California rolls), but you'll find a wide array of other delicious delights like spicy kimchi, flavorful gyoza, comforting udons, and tasty yakisoba. This izakaya serves up a range of traditional dishes that will warm your heart, paired with a diverse selection of sakes from different regions of Japan. And the best part? You can enjoy a plate of yakisoba for less than 10 euros, a rare find in the Japanese restaurant scene in Lyon.

A beautiful experience like we love them. You will finally be able to leave your cave to go eat in another... A true hermit life!
