Imagine a lovely summer night, nestled under the stars in the historic setting of Vieux-Lyon, a drink in hand, ready to dive into the magical world of cinema. Great news: this dream is coming true! From July 19 to 23, 2025, the courtyard of the Palais Saint-Jean will host the first edition of the Cinéma du Vieux-Lyon, a free festival completely dedicated to European film.

Behind this project is the association ARGAYA, which aims to offer Lyon residents and visitors a unique cinematic experience in an emblematic setting of the world capital of cinema. With the support of the Institut Lumière and in partnership with the Musée Cinéma et Miniature, this event aspires to make cinema accessible to everyone while showcasing the richness and diversity of European cinematic heritage.

A 100% European lineup that packs a punch

And when it comes to programming, it’s fantastic! Every evening, a cult classic will be screened under the stars: Simone, the Journey of a Century by Olivier Dahan, The Commitments by Alan Parker, Wings of Desire by Wim Wenders, Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni, and All About My Mother by Pedro Almodóvar. A cinematic journey across Europe, where each film immerses us in a unique time, culture, and perspective on the world.

In addition to the screenings, the festival promises a friendly and immersive atmosphere, where film lovers, the curious, and the passionate can exchange ideas, debate, and rediscover masterpieces in a charming setting. A beautiful way to celebrate cinema differently, far from dark theaters, and in full communion with the city that gave birth to it.
