In Lyon, summer always starts a little earlier for food lovers. And this year, the Lyon Street Food Festival is going bigger than ever! For its 9th edition, this national gathering of street gastronomy will stretch over five days, promising an XXL experience at the Grandes Locos, where food becomes a live spectacle. The idea remains the same: “Creating connections and bringing people together through cooking,” shares Emeric Richard, the founder and maestro of this grand feast of flavors. With 130 chefs ready to go – that’s 15% more stands than before – it's safe to say this edition is as generous as a well-filled bao!
Heading to Brazil and Ireland
And since we don’t do things halfway, the festival keeps the travel spirit alive! This year, we’re off to Brazil and Ireland, two countries celebrated for their amazing cuisines, as well as their rich cultures. Get ready to sway to some salsa lessons before sipping on a fine Irish whiskey. It’s going to be great! On the plate, each chef will showcase an exclusive dish. Among the highlights: the "Minis M" from pastry chef Nicolas Paciello (madeleines with praline sauce that might just become addictive) and the creations from Belgian sensation Whoogy’s, not to mention the favorites from Top Chef like Justine Piluso and Pierre Sang.
Deliciousness and Music
Lyon is shining with its new rising stars, showcased like never before. “Something amazing is happening in Lyon right now,” claims Emeric. This local “gastronomic spring” will be celebrated throughout the festival, in a joyful mix of ideas and talents. But the Street Food Festival is not just about mouthwatering dishes. It’s also about real music. This year, kicking things off is none other than Philippe Etchebest himself, with a rock vibe courtesy of Chef & The Gang. Following him will be Moléculaire, Kiddy Smile, and the FFF (French Folk Federation). The atmosphere will be electric, thanks to the unwavering support of Ninkasi Musik Lab, present since day one.
And to make it even more interactive, over 450 participatory workshops are offered, from spirit tastings to cooking classes for both young and curious adults. In short, you don’t just come here to eat, you come to experience a moment, feel the vibes, and delight all your senses. Street food has never been this sexy.
