In Lyon, summer always kicks off a little earlier for food lovers. And this year, the Street Food Festival is going even bigger. For its 9th edition, the national street gastronomy event stretches over five days and promises an XXL experience at the Grandes Locos, where food becomes a live spectacle. The idea remains the same: “Creating connections and bringing people together through cooking,” shares Emeric Richard, founder and maestro of this grand tasting celebration. With 130 chefs at the starting line – that's 15% more stands – you can say this edition is shaping up to be as generous as a well-filled bao.
Off to Brazil and Ireland
And since we don’t do things halfway, the festival continues its adventure theme! This year, we’re heading to Brazil and Ireland, two countries celebrated for their amazing cuisines and vibrant cultures. Get ready to sway to some salsa lessons before sipping a fine Irish whiskey. It's going to be great! On the plate, each chef will present an exclusive dish. Among the exciting treats you can expect are the “Minis M” by pastry chef Nicolas Paciello (little madeleines with praline sauce that could become a bit addictive) and creations from the Belgian sensation Whoogy’s, along with favorites from Top Chef like Justine Piluso and Pierre Sang.
Indulgence and Music
Lyon is stepping up with its rising stars, shining brighter than ever. "Something amazing is happening in Lyon right now,” exclaims Emeric. This local “gastronomic spring” will be celebrated throughout the festival, bubbling with ideas and talent. But the Street Food Festival isn't just about mouth-watering dishes; it’s also about real music. This year's opening act: Philippe Etchebest himself, rocking the stage with Chef & The Gang vibes. Following him will be Molécule, Kiddy Smile, and the FFF (French Folk Federation). The atmosphere will be electric, with the unwavering support of the Ninkasi Musik Lab, present since day one.
And for even more interaction, over 450 hands-on workshops are offered, ranging from tasting spirits to cooking classes for curious young and old. In short, you don’t just come here to eat; you come to experience a moment, feel the vibes, and delight all your senses. Street food has never been this sexy.
