A page in Lyon's cultural landscape is turning. The international short film festival Filmoramax will not be organizing any new editions. According to information revealed by Lyon Décideurs, the three partners of the organization officially voted for the early dissolution of the company and its liquidation during an extraordinary general assembly on May 22.
Created to showcase short films and provide a platform for both emerging and established talents, Filmoramax gradually carved out its spot in the calendar of Lyon's cultural events. This adventure comes to an end today after several years of existence.
Life paths that complicate the pursuit of the project
While this decision might surprise those familiar with the festival, it can be explained by the personal circumstances of its founders. Arnaud Mizzon and Patrice Revaux now live in Biarritz and Geneva, respectively, making the organization of an event based in Lyon increasingly complex. The idea of ending the festival was already circulating at the conclusion of the 2026 edition, but it has now been officially decided. This choice marks the end of an independent cultural project that has been nurtured for several years by its creators.

One of the co-founders still wanted to keep the adventure alive
Not everyone shared the desire to turn the page, though. Baptiste Brun, the third partner and co-founder of Filmoramax, publicly spoke out about this decision, explaining that he wanted to continue developing the festival. “We weren’t in agreement. They wanted to stop, I wanted to continue. I offered to take over the company because I truly believe in this project, but they declined. So Filmoramax is coming to an end,” he shared with Lyon Décideurs.
This statement highlights the differences between the founders and leaves a feeling of incompleteness for everyone who still saw a bright future for this short film festival. The final curtain is now official.
