As true spirits enthusiasts, we heard that Lyon hides a true Rum paradise right in the city. So, we went for a stroll in the 3rd to La Maison des Rhums. And let me tell you, we had a hard time leaving.

Whether you are a connoisseur, a novice, or just curious, Rum never fails to impress. Sometimes powerful and dry, sometimes fruity and sweet, this alcohol with a sunny scent has an ever-growing fan base. It's no coincidence that Rum is now one of the most consumed spirits in France, with over 48 million bottles sold every year. This was enough to convince Christophe (a wine merchant) and Jocelyn (a spirits specialist), both passionate about Rum for many years, to open the one and only Rum cellar in Lyon and its region. At the corner of Rue de la Part-Dieu and Rue Duguesclin, La Maison des Rhums has reigned since 2015 in an atmosphere that naturally lends itself to escapism and piracy. A large rum barrel on the floor, a colorful parrot on the ceiling, and wooden crates in all corners of the place immerse us in a decor straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean. On the shelves, you can find over 600 references of rum classified by families. Yes, there are three main families of producers generated by colonization: the British, the Hispanic, and the French. This classification can also include independent bottlers who have a specially dedicated space in the shop and offer " certainly the most delicious and original rums available ". Old-fashioned rum, tasting workshops and online sales
