You know that old cliché: the hero buys a place with questionable décor and decides to scrape the walls to see if there's anything to salvage, not really believing it. And as if by magic, the old worn-out wall gives way to a beautiful vintage tapestry. It's pretty much the story of Le Commerce. After 6 months of work, the team discovered old tapestries on the walls. A touch of old that the place decided to keep and mix with more contemporary touches. Add to that a magnificent vegetal ceiling (with real plants) and you get a mix inspired by the ruin bars of Eastern countries.
Real life throughout the day, Le Commerce aims to become the paradise of thirtysomethings, a clientele that is both chic, relaxed, and eager to find a spot where they feel at home. And it's safe to say that the bet is already a success: between good taste, good food, and good music, Le Commerce hits the mark with surprising perfection. To quench your thirst, the place offers a wide selection of 12 beers and signature cocktails starting at 8€ prepared by a former Black Forest Society expert (and it's really nice to see that cocktails under 10€ still exist).
A combination of bistro, brasserie, and cocktail bar
When it comes to the food, they offer local brasserie recipes that are 100% homemade for lunch (set menus at 11, 15, and 19 euros) and a selection of boards and tapas for the evening. The prepared dishes change weekly with a chef who has mastered the art of creating delicious comfort food. Quality is definitely present: we tried some tapas like homemade hummus with lavash bread, beef tataki, and octopus ceviche. Quality and quantity for prices that hardly exceed 8 euros. It's no coincidence that the motto of the establishment is as follows: "offering the best at a fair price".
When it's afterwork time, Le Commerce changes its atmosphere by letting different DJs spin from Monday to Friday from 7:30 pm to 1 am, and on Saturday and Sunday starting at 3 pm. While many continue the festivities with beer, others are tempted by one of the 13 cocktails or the selection of fine wines. But the other specialty of the place is the spirits. In the cellar, there are around fifteen gins and rums, but most notably, over 20 whiskies from around the world. This will definitely get you in the mood and be as energetic as the place and its hyperactive owner Geoffrey.
