An immersive journey into the fertile mind of Miyazaki
Dive into the behind-the-scenes of a dozen legendary films, where literature and pictorial art come together to create unparalleled narrative worlds. The exhibition is a family-friendly exploration, revealing the hidden inspirations behind Miyazaki's cult films. "It's a bit like the back side of the films. What we don't see, what's hidden behind," explains Joseph Belletante, the museum director.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is how it highlights the reciprocal influence between Miyazaki and contemporary artists. For each film, illustrators were given free rein to reinterpret the works in their own way, offering visitors a new perspective on the director's classics. And because Miyazaki's universe resonates far beyond the screens, singer Pomme, a talented local and devoted fan of the director, brings her musical touch to the exhibition.

The exhibition will be accompanied by film screenings: Spirited Away, on April 16 at 8:30pm, at Aquarium Ciné-Café (Lyon 4th); and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya by Isao Takahata, on June 15 at 10:30am, at Cinema Lumière Terreaux (Lyon 1st). To complete their journey in beauty, visitors will receive a free little book recounting the exhibition's path, allowing everyone to extend the Miyazaki experience long after their visit.
