Forget about stuffy museums and incomprehensible talks about "silky tannins and subtle minerality". Starting Thursday, March 19th, Le Petit Musée du Vin will officially open its doors at 3 rue Passet, in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, with a simple promise: to make wine accessible, fun, and alive. Located in 120 m² of authentic historic vaulted cellars, this place breaks the mold and turns learning into a truly immersive experience.
Here, you don’t need a master’s degree in oenology to understand what’s in your glass. The concept is based on a clear idea: learning while having fun. From vine work to fermentation, and through the secrets of production, everything is explained through an interactive setup that combines digital elements with hands-on activities. You touch, observe, and test… and most importantly, you finally understand why a wine tastes the way it does.
An immersive visit designed like a game
The museum's journey is designed as a playful exploration mission. As soon as you enter, visitors dive into the world of wine through various sensory experiences. You start by exploring the terroir, handling real rocks like granite, limestone, or clay, to grasp their influence on flavors. Then comes the chemistry of wine...
n, with visual workshops on maceration and tannins, which finally make clear concepts that are often blurry.

The favorite moment for both curious folks and competitors: the Wall of Scents. Here, everyone is invited to challenge their sense of smell and identify the aromas of red fruits, spices, or wood. It’s an exercise that’s just as fun as it is addictive, quickly proving that tasting wine is all about sensations. The experience continues with a unique workshop to learn how to virtually craft your own Champagne blend, just like an aspiring oenologist.
A free and relaxed tasting experience
The highlight of the show is the educational tasting, free from pressure and jargon. Thanks to the Tasting Wall, every visitor can freely explore a selection of eight wines, ranging from classic favorites like Morgon or Moulin-à-Vent to bolder discoveries such as natural or orange wines. The principle is super si.Sample : you choose, you press, you taste. Small sip or full glass, it’s you who steers your tasting journey.

A bunch of grapes in the glass: each participant leaves with their engraved tasting glass, a tangible memento of this delightful moment spent under the arches. It's a thoughtful touch that turns the outing into a truly memorable experience, far from just a typical tourist stop.
