The Festival Region of Lights is so much more than just a light show: it’s a celebration of local culture, open to everyone. From June to September, as night falls, iconic monuments are transformed through spectacular artistic creations. The idea? To bring together young and old around our heritage, making it resonate, enhancing its beauty… and making it accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. There’s a strong focus on audio description, adaptive pathways, and inclusive hospitality. Yes, magic is something we can share.
Eight cities with tailor-made performances
Each performance is designed as a unique piece, specially crafted for its location. No copy-pasting here: the Dream Igniters, the creative collective behind the magic, immerse themselves in the history of each city, its architecture, and its secrets, to create handcrafted luminous artworks. 2D and 3D mapping,
animations, immersive soundtracks… technology serves emotion. From the baroque sanctuary of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville to the Cathedral of Saint-Apollinaire in Valence, and through the medieval stones of the Château des Bruneaux in Firminy, each site becomes the canvas for a stunning visual story.A wave of light spreading across the region
The festival's ambition is clear: to showcase the richness of the regional heritage in every corner of the territory. Since its creation in 2019, there have been 57 shows in 42 different cities, attracting over 3 million delighted spectators. This 2025 edition is no exception, featuring a generous lineup: Valence until August 22, Thonon-les-Bains starting August 2, Le Puy-en-Velay on August 9, and culminating in Firminy, Montluçon, and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville. The light flows, expands, and touches every corner of the region.
Put on a light sweater (yes, even in August!) and get ready for an extraordinary sensory journey. With collective wonder, rediscovery of our heritage, and luminous poetry, the Festival Region of Lights makes Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes shine like never before. It's free, magical, and happening near you. So, what are you waiting for to bask in the light?
