The Editor

On September 23, 2025, Lyon inaugurated its stock exchange museum in a highly symbolic location: the former agents' hall of the Palais de la Bourse. This prestigious site, now home to the CCI Lyon Métropole Saint-Étienne-Roanne, immerses visitors in the city's financial epic, from its first listings in the 16th century to modern major IPOs.

Five centuries of stock market history to explore

Lyon doesn't just discover finance; it has been a historical pillar since 1540. From historical account books to the stock price board, and even Smoby's IPO in 1983, the museum gathers rare pieces unearthed thanks to Martine Collonge, a key figure in Lyon's finance scene. It's a dive into a world where heritage and economy come together.

A scenography that makes sense

The museum goes beyond just displaying archives: it invites visitors to understand the role of the Bourse in yesterday's and today's economy. With a clear scenography designed to integrate with the activities of the CCI, the space highlights local successes like Visiativ and Esker, while reminding us that financial markets still represent an opportunity that many businesses underestimate.

A place designed for the future

Although it isn’t open to the general public just yet, the Bourse Museum is primarily aimed at users of the CCI and members of Lyon's financial hub. But its ambition is clear: to gradually broaden access and become an unmissable spot for the economic history of Lyon, shining a light on a unique intangible heritage in France.
