Titled Robert Doisneau: Instants donnés, this event, created in collaboration with the Atelier Robert Doisneau and led by the artist's daughters, will showcase 350 snapshots offering a modern reinterpretation of a photographer often remembered only for his most famous images. Here, there's no chance to get stuck on the postcard views of old Paris. The aim is clear: to present a committed photographer, attentive to his time and the social changes happening around him.

Dive into the world of a master of photography

The journey spans over half a century of creativity, from 1934 to 1992, blending iconic images with lesser-known treasures. You'll encounter laughing children, slightly too photogenic lovers, artists, as well as post-war miners and more raw suburban scenes. It’s impossible to overlook ...tity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline">The Kiss of the City Hall, which has become a global symbol. But the real delightful surprise is this series captured in Lyon in 1950 for Vogue, which offers an elegant and unexpected view of the city.

Beyond the images, Instants donnés focuses on immersion. Original collages, personal objects, workshop reconstructions, and even a photo lab enhance the experience. The icing on the cake: some works are accompanied by audio commentary from Robert Doisneau himself, sourced from archives. It’s a rare and precious way to step into the artist's mind and understand his creative process.

Born in Gentilly, Robert Doisneau created an immense body of work, filled with simple yet universal scenes. Behind each shot, there's a special attention to gestures, gazes, and the invisible stories of daily life. His style, both tender and ironic, continues to influence generations of photographers. And while his images may sometimes feel timeless, they have never been more relevant.
