It's a piece of cinema history that has just parked itself in Lyon. In the courtyard of the Cinema & Miniature Museum, nestled right in the heart of Old Lyon, now stands the original Batmobile from the film Batman, directed by Tim Burton in 1989. Yes, the very one driven by Michael Keaton against the Joker portrayed by Jack Nicholson. A mythical piece, instantly recognizable, that transforms the visit into an almost cinematic experience.

A gothic sculpture on four wheels

The Batmobile is a complete work of art. Designed by the creator Anton Furst, she embodies the entire dark and gothic aesthetic of the film all by herself. Long, low, and aggressive, she seems to have come straight out of an industrial dream (or nightmare). The kind of vehicle that would make any supercar look like a bland city car. It’s safe to say that for pop culture and movie fans, this is a must-see!

With its new layout, the museum really makes an impact and clearly enhances its offerings. Already renowned for its hyper-realistic decorations and iconic items, the Cinema and Miniature Museum is adding a centerpiece to its collection here. And that’s not all: the return of the World of Miniatures, fully restored, will enrich the experience starting April 4. It's a chance to extend the magic and rediscover the place in a whole new light.

Already spotted in Lyon in 2023, the Batmobile makes a remarkable comeback, proving that some legends never fade. And in a setting as rich in history as Vieux-Lyon, the illusion is nearly perfect: you might just expect to see Batman pop around the corner.
