Cocktail lovers, beer enthusiasts, and fans of good vibes, welcome to Big White! Established for 12 years, this must-visit bar in Old Lyon has successfully weathered the storms of Covid to become a standout destination for the night owls of Lyon.

It all started in 2012, when Big White opened its doors in place of Solas, a landmark in the Lyon nightlife scene. Taking the name of a famous Canadian ski resort, the venue with its chill, surfer/skater decoration attracts a young and dynamic clientele. During the first Covid lockdown in 2020, the bar had to deal with changing health conditions. It reopened in May 2020, only to close again during the second lockdown. Instead of giving up, the new team took the opportunity to completely rethink the ground floor and give a new life to this iconic place. And it turned out to be a great move!

An iconic bar in the heart of Old Lyon

Let's talk about the place! Big White is two bars in one. One on the ground floor, perfect for starting the evening, and one in the basement, much larger, which is perfect for events. The basement decor, enhanced by the artistic touches signed by the Lyon artist Fouapa, is stunning. You will find a darts game, a pool table, and a stage for stand-up sessions. At the same time, the TVs located in every corner broadcast sports events. In terms of decor, we have the typical Lyonnais style with stone walls and exposed beams. A place that is warm and just the way we like it!

When it comes to drinks, Big White offers a lovely menu of signature cocktails, beers (bottled or on tap) including those at the basement bar in collaboration with Gallia, homemade shooters, and sharing platters for apéro. They are all items you can enjoy on the beautiful outdoor terrace facing the iconic Place du Change. A strategic location (close to Saint-Paul) that allows Big White to attract a diverse clientele including students, young professionals, and tourists passing through Vieux-Lyon.

A capacity of 100 people and more

Want to celebrate a birthday, a farewell party, a team building event, or a bachelor/bachelorette party? Big White is the perfect place with a capacity to host up to 100 people. Major events like St. Patrick's Day and the bar's anniversary always attract a huge crowd. And every Monday night, from 8pm to 10pm, it's stand-up comedy night with 4/5 artists from all walks of life taking turns on stage for the past year and a half. In short, you never get bored at Big White!
