The bags are packed, and the sunglasses are ready too! This Friday morning, Volotea officially launched its first flight connecting Lyon-Saint Exupéry to Alghero, a little gem nestled in the northwest of Sardinia. This new destination adds to the Italian offerings of the airline from Lyon and is sure to become one of the most attractive plans for the summer.

With this launch, Volotea adds a seventh Italian destination to its Lyon network, bringing the total number of destinations accessible from Lyon to 32 across nine European and Mediterranean countries. And let's just say this new route has some serious appeal for sun getaway enthusiasts.

Alghero, the perfect destination between beaches and dolce vita

If you haven't discovered Alghero yet, get ready to want to book a ticket within the next five minutes! This coastal city in Sardinia ticks all the boxes for the perfect Mediterranean spot: a fortified historic center with Catalan influences, charming little streets, mouthwatering seafood restaurants, and above all, beaches with crystal-clear waters that look like something straight out of a cheeky postcard.

Far from the hustle and bustle of super touristy destinations, Alghero maintains a more authentic, almost timeless vibe. You can easily alternate between turquoise swims, sunset aperitifs, and long evenings wandering through the quaint cobblestone streets. In short: exactly what our Lyonnais brains need after months spent under dreary skies and heatwave alerts.

Two flights a week departing from Lyon

Volotea will operate this new Lyon-Alghero route twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. Over 13,000 seats are offered on this route, with tickets already available for sale. For the airline specializing in regional European capitals, this launch especially confirms its desire to continue expanding its offering from Lyon. Between Italy, Spain, Greece, Croatia, and Portugal, Volotea is gradually turning Saint-Exupéry into a hub for spontaneous weekend getaways.
