There are places that instantly make you want to slow down. The Royal Beaulaincourt is one of those! Less than an hour from Lille (and easily accessible by TER for the more sensible among us), this former private mansion from the 18th century offers a timeless getaway, blending heritage, gastronomy, and the joy of living.
A historic monument transformed into a 4-star hotel
It's hard to imagine that as you step through the doors of the Royal Beaulaincourt, this building has witnessed nearly three centuries of history. Constructed in 1750 by Philippe-Alexandre de Beaulaincourt, Count of Marles, the edifice has lived many lives. Museum, courthouse, administrative building... before returning today to its original purpose: welcoming guests in an exceptional setting.

As soon as you step into the inner courtyard, the mood is set. The bustling outside world almost instantly fades away. Inside, every detail tells a story: the moldings, the original staircases, the classified woodwork, the period salons, and even some paintings restored with the expertise of the Louvre. It's the kind of place where you spend just as much time looking up as you do looking ahead.
A bistronomic table in an exceptional setting
The restaurant itself is worth the detour. Located in the former reception halls, the room impresses without ever being ostentatious. Tall ceilings, elegant frescoes, soft lighting: the atmosphere is cozy and particularly delightful.

On the plate, the cuisine emphasizes finesse and well-prepared ingredients. During our visit, the tomato gazpacho paired with a crunchy vegetable tartar beautifully started the evening, just like the sea bream carpaccio enhanced by a citrus vinaigrette. Among the main courses, a special mention goes to the veal rump accompanied by potato mousseline, fennel, and star anise sauce, as well as the Asian-style beef tataki served with garlic and thyme baby potatoes. And because it's important to finish things off right, the rhubarb-apple crumble tart and the melting chocolate heart more than fulfilled their mission. All of this was supported by attentive, discreet, and particularly pleasant service.
The kind of place where you happily extend the evening
After dinner, head to the lounge bar tucked away in another part of the building. Comfortable armchairs, softly dimmed lighting, elegant decor: the place clearly invites you to linger over a cocktail or a glass of wine. You settle in for a few minutes and realize an hour later that you still don’t want to leave.

A tranquil night, away from the hustle and bustle
The rooms take on a more contemporary vibe while still keeping the elegance of the place. Comfortable bedding, beautiful bathrooms, and soothing, understated décor: everything is designed to promote restful relaxation. The same feeling continues in the morning with a delightful breakfast served in a lovely, light-filled space. No endless buffets here, just...has a carefully curated selection where you can find, among other things, excellent cheeses that have been thoughtfully sourced.
A chic getaway without leaving Hauts-de-France
What stands out the most at Royal Beaulaincourt is undoubtedly this feeling of absolute tranquility. Everything seems designed to slow down the pace and fully enjoy the moment. It's the perfect spot for a romantic weekend, a birthday, a special occasion... or simply to treat yourself to a little getaway without traveling to the other side of the world. And when you know it only takes a quick ride on a TER from Lille to get there, the excuse of not having enough time suddenly becomes much less believable.
