Yes, literally! And honestly, it's hard to find a more poetic stroll.
A Cycle Path Inspired by Van Gogh
Head to Eindhoven, in the Netherlands, where one of Europe’s most unique cycle paths awaits: the Van Gogh-Roosegaarde Cycle Path. Dreamed up by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, this 600-meter track is made up of thousands of tiny glowing stones embedded in the ground. Charged by solar energy during the day, they light up once night falls to create patterns inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's iconic painting: The Starry Night. The result? A delightful journey through art, technology, and nature, with that little “wow” effect we all love.
A Radiant Artwork in the Heart of Brabant
The best part of the story is that this path isn't just there by chance. It’s located in the region where Van GoghVan Gogh lived and drew a lot of his inspiration here. It’s right here, between Nuenen and Eindhoven, that he painted several major works like The Potato Eaters, as well as the famous water mills of Opwetten and Coll. This trail is part of the Van Gogh circuit, a route that links several iconic places from his life and art. In other words: it’s not just a pretty Instagrammable path, it’s a real little journey into the painter’s world!

A night stroll that truly makes a difference
We love spontaneous weekend getaways, but this one definitely has a little something extra! Cruising slowly under the lights, watching the patterns emerge as night falls, and soaking in that almost surreal atmosphere... it’s a refreshing change from the usual Sunday park tour. And even if you’re not a huge art fan, the experience is totally enjoyable. Tip: go at dusk when the sky starts to darken, and the path really comes to life.
Easy to do from Lille
From Lille, it takes about 2 hours by car to reach Eindhoven. You can also rent a bike on-site and enjoy the entire circuit, or simply drive or take public transport directly to the path. The spot is accessible via line 6 from Eindhoven station, stop at Koudehoven, then just a short walk. It's definitely a great option for “a fun outing that doesn’t require a flight.”
