They call it the "mini Amsterdam," and you'll quickly see why!
A getaway that smells just like the Netherlands
Head to Sluis, in Zeeland. Just an hour's drive from Lille, and you'll find yourself in a picture-postcard perfect Dutch setting. Here, everything invites you to slow down: the canals, the charming cobblestone streets, the perfectly aligned brick houses. It's the kind of place you come to "just take a stroll"... and before you know it, you've spent the whole day without even realizing it.

Biking, paddling, and leisure by the water
In Sluis, the plan is simple: enjoy! Stroll along the canals, bike around the area, or take a little pedal boat ride right on the water (about €4 for 30 minutes). The ramparts also provide a lovely walk, with a few remnants of the old fortress still visible. And for photo spot lovers, it doesn't get much cuter than this!
A unique belfry and real village charm
You can't miss the town hall, topped by the only belfry in the Netherlands. Just that alone is worth it! Rebuilt after a fire, it now houses a museum and offers a panoramic view after climbing 142 steps. On Sundays, there's a little bonus: a carillonneur comes to ring the bells for an hour. Guaranteed atmosphere!

Between nature, windmills, and great spots
Just a few minutes from the center, you can catch a glimpse of the Brak mill, which is still in operation. And if you venture a little further, the Zwin Nature Park, just 20 minutes away, offers a true escape into nature between dunes and the seaside. As for food, let’s not kid ourselves: gray shrimp croquettes, herring, local cheeses… it’s definitely worth the detour.
The kind of spot to keep in your pocket
No need to cross Europe for a little taste of vacation. Sluis is the perfect plan for a refreshing day out, blending strolls, nature, and a relaxed vibe. And between us, it always makes a nice impression when you say you made a same-day trip to the Netherlands.
