The Unmissable Delights of Fred
If there is one sweet treat that we brag about in the region, it's Fred's marvelous creation. A delicious meringue coated with an irresistible whipped cream and chocolate... we literally melt!! Available in chocolate (dark, milk, and white), praline, cherry, caramel or speculoos (another local specialty!), this dessert takes us to paradise from the very first bite! And even though there are shops all over Europe and even in Japan, the United States, and Canada (quite unlikely!), the very first one was born in Lille, on Rue de la Monnaie! In fact, we collect them completely: there are 3 in our city, much to the delight of food lovers like us!

The extra touch: their chocolate chip brioche is absolutely to die for!

Meert, the reference
A true Lille institution, Meert owes its success to its incredible Madagascar vanilla waffles. UNMATCHED, they are of a magical softness. We could eat them endlessly (if their price was within our budget!) But the worst part is that ALL their cakes and pastries WITHOUT EXCEPTION are excellent! Our favorite: the praline puff pastry in the style of Paris-Brest. Here, each piece is unique and incredibly well presented.

The extra touch: This house also owes its reputation to the stunning architecture of its pastry shop, classified as a historical monument! A visual treat almost comparable to the delicacy of its treats!

Oxalis et Bergamote, the pleasant surprise
Tucked away tea room behind the royal street, Oxalis et Bergamote is the perfect address to satisfy our cravings for unusual snacks, in a cozy universe in the heart of Old Lille.
Ingrid and Romain, the owners of the place, built this establishment with their own hands and put all their heart into it. Here, no cow's milk (thinking about their well-being) but local and organic products, cooked with love. From brownies to decorations, everything is homemade. Their specialty? The salted butter caramel cookie - caramelized peanuts. If you're going to blow up the calorie counter, you might as well do it right! But for those who are more determined, who are preparing their summer. Her body, a wide range of teas, juices, and detox infusions are waiting to be discovered! 🍵🍹💫🌿 #healthychoices #detox #wellness
The special touch: lovers of crafts and relaxation, workshops are organized every month (when possible given the circumstances). On the agenda: tea preparation, sophrology, watercolor painting, or making flower crowns. We LOVE it!!

The daring, the delightful
If you're looking to stuff yourself. If you're looking for extraordinary cakes, this is the perfect address! The impertinent teases us with all its choices of pastries and cookies. Here, we don't skimp on the cream, caramel, cocoa, and peanuts. 20,000 Weight Watchers points per "slice" (here, it's a slice of cake, cakes) but it's worth it! We love the cozy atmosphere and the vintage dishes, which add even more charm to these little wonders!

The little extra: The Impertinente also offers for sale many teas, as well as original mugs and tote bags!

Elizabeth's, the poshest
We finish this top with the most British of tea rooms in Lille. We switch to English time and succumb to their unbeatable cheesecakes, both creamy and crunchy. Here we don't have lunch, we brunch, delighting in avocado toast and meat pies to mix with scones and other crumbles. We can't resist and have another slice of lemon cheesecake, light and sweet, it melts in the mouth like a cloud on our palate!

The extra touch: Renowned for their teas and herbal teas, we also love their other cappuccinos and lattes
