Maison Satori, the pure and hard matcha bar

Passionate about Japan, Simon opened Maison Satori on Rue du Molinel, right across from the Petit Konbini. In this charming café, there are no sweet lattes or altered versions: matcha is enjoyed in its most traditional form, straight from the ancestral gardens of Kyoto. Tea ceremony workshops, refined tastings (€6.50 per cup), handmade crafts, vintage kimonos, and Japanese teapots enhance the experience. It’s a deep dive into Japanese culture, just the way we love it.

Salon Ubu, onigiri just like home

At Salon Ubu, you can enjoy an onigiri just like in Japan, that little rice ball parents tuck into bento boxes. Amélie, a stylist turned chef, has made it the star of her menu, alongside poke bowls, mazasoba, and comforting soups. On the sweet side, sesame cookies and matcha financiers are competing for the spotlight. All of this in a cozy atmosphere where even dogs are welcome.

Hanami Café, immerse yourself under the cherry blossoms

Head over to Rue de la Clef to discover Hanami Café, a unique spot that blends a café, restaurant, library, and Japanese school all in one! With paper lanterns, lush greenery, and decor inspired by cherry blossoms, the atmosphere is simply enchanting. You can enjoy takoyaki, bento, or Japanese curry, sip on matcha, sake, and Japanese cocktails… and even try your hand at origami, calligraphy, or take language classes. It's a true cultural immersion!

Unami, the Traditional Tea House

A must-visit in Old Lille: Unami, a real Japanese tea house. You pick your tea from a menu that's as impressive as a wine list, prepare it yourself with a lovely service set, and enjoy it alongside a matcha cake or a chocolate fondant infused with tea. At lunchtime, the place also offers steaming menus, vegetarian or not, always served with tea. It’s a bright and zen refuge where time slows down.

Champthé, the delights that make you travel

A new arrival in the center since April, Champthé delights with homemade pastries inspired by Asia: mooncakes, melt-in-your-mouth mochis, matcha mille-crepes, black sesame rolls… Not too sweet, perfectly balanced, these desserts are best enjoyed with a tea or a homemade bubble tea. This super cute spot has quickly become a hangout for those seeking an original, delicate, and affordable snack.
