Welsh'Fest: Two Days Dedicated to the Most Iconic Dish of the North

This Saturday, November 29, and Sunday, November 30, the Saint-Sauveur Station will become the headquarters for Welsh lovers. For two days, Hall B will transform into a cheese paradise: restaurateurs, local producers, chefs, curious foodies, purists, and even those who weren’t ready… but will leave converted.

This year, the festival is taking on an even crazier dimension: the 2025 International Welsh Competition is part of the event.
A whole generation of cheddar melt enthusiasts will be strutting their stuff: hope and amateur categories on Saturday, followed by the pros on Sunday, judged by a panel including Meilleurs Ouvriers de France. It’s going to be cheesily delicious!

A packed (and deliciously comforting) program

The Gare Saint-So will be hosting a local products market all weekend long, filling the hall with cheeses, beers, mustards, artisanal specialties, and other delightful treasures from the region. Chefs will offer workshops and demonstrations, while culinary shows will keep the afternoon lively.
Over 14 restaurateurs ready to make you melt like your cheddar will also be present to reinvent, enhance, or respectfully honor the traditional Welsh dish.

In between bites, attendees can enjoy concerts, meet the participants of the competition, try out the Welsh School, or admire performances that promise to be, to say the least... crispy.

A Saint-So Vibe: Generous, Funny, and Very Northern

Because in Lille, we never do things halfway: wacky animations, improbable challenges, spontaneous tastings, a pumped-up crowd... Welsh’Fest is already famous for being one of the warmest gastronomic events of the season. It's all about indulging, having fun, and celebrating in a place we absolutely love: the Gare Saint-Sauveur, perfect for this kind of cool-pop event that defines the city.

And for those who want to kick off the party early...

A pre-party is happening on Friday, November 28, to set the mood even before the official festival opening. Bazar St So will host Jacques Fromage, the creator of the "electro-cheese" concept: an unexpected mix of DJ set and cheesy celebration, but believe it or not, it works! For seven hours, the place will be buzzing with house, UK garage, techno, drum & bass and more...
