Lille's largest bike station finally opens its doors!
We’ve been waiting for this for a long time, and it’s finally here! MEL and SNCF Gares & Connexions have just opened an enormous bike station just steps away from Lille-Europe station. This brand-new facility, located right on Place Valladolid, is sure to make life a whole lot easier for Lille cyclists (and everyone who’s thinking about joining them).
With no less than 440 bike spots, including some specially designed for cargo bikes and longtails, this station clearly caters to all needs. Plus, everything is fully covered and secured, featuring video surveillance and access via Pass Pass card (which you can sign up for online for free).
And because we love practical details: you’ll even find a self-service repair workshop with an integrated air pump. Perfect for a quick check-up before hopping on the train!

The bike, star of the Lille-Europe neighborhood
This gigantic bike station marks a real turning point in the soft mobility policy led by the MEL. The goal is clear: to make it as easy as possible to get around by bike to encourage intermodality between trains, metros, and urban transport. Damien Castelain, president of the MEL, is thrilled: “This is an important step towards a low-carbon mobility accessible to all, right in the heart of a strategic neighborhood of the metropolis.”
In simple terms? No more stress about parking your bike; you can now come to Lille-Europe with total peace of mind and hop on the train in no time!

Place Valladolid gets a makeover
This inauguration also marks the completion of a total renovation of Place Valladolid initiated by MEL in 2023. The result? More greenery, wider sidewalks, safer bike lanes, and an overall much more welcoming atmosphere. Inspired by the iconic train stations of Lille like Saint-Sauveur and Lille-Flandres, the bike station even features a green roof that can be seen from the surrounding area.
SNCF Stations & Connections goes all in on cycling
The bike station at Lille-Europe is part of an ambitious program led by SNCF Stations & Connections, which aims to install nearly 5000 secure bike spaces throughout the Hauts-de-France region by 2026. Cécile Godin, Regional Director of SNCF Stations & Connections, confirms: “Our goal is to make travel easier for everyone.”
