Ingredients (for 2 people):
- 2 large Bintje potatoes
- Yellow onions (1 or more depending on your taste)
- 200g smoked bacon
- 1 quarter of Maroilles cheese
- 1 clove of garlic
- Thick cream (2 tbsp)
- 5cl beer
- Salt, pepper, nutmeg (1 tsp)
And then what happens?
First, steam your diced potatoes for 20 minutes for easy cooking. Cut the onions, bacon, and garlic, then sauté them over high heat for 3 minutes while stirring regularly. Next, deglaze with beer before adding the cream and seasoning with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Enjoy!And let it simmer gently. The chef's trick? Deglazing the pan intensifies the flavors! Mmmm.
Next, cut the Maroilles cheese into small cubes (cut a few more than planned to snack on while cooking), add it to the mixture along with a tablespoon of heavy cream. Let it melt for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Finally, add the potatoes, mix slowly, and transfer everything to a baking dish to bake at 230°C! Let it brown nicely. How do you know when it's done? When the smell of Maroilles fills the air!
