After the Pop Mart craze, a new spot is sure to make collectors weak in the knees... and possibly lighten a few wallets along the way.

An official Fioko Shop opens in Lille

It's official: Fioko Shop, the store specializing in cult figurines like Sonny Angel, is setting up shop in Lille. The store will open its doors at 42 rue de Béthune, right next to the UGC cinema, in the spot that used to be Intimissimi. In other words: you won't be able to miss it! The grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2026, with “lots of surprises” promised by the brand. Given the excitement surrounding this phenomenon, it's safe to bet there will be a line right from the start.

Sonny Angel, the figurine that's taking TikTok by storm

If you've managed to escape the allure of Sonny Angel until now, here's a little recap: these are those adorable little Japanese figurines resembling cherubs, often topped with a fruit, an animal, or a cute little accessory...

obable. Created in Japan in 2004, they really exploded in 2023 thanks to the blind box opening videos on TikTok. The concept? You buy a surprise box without knowing which figurine you'll get. And of course, that's exactly what makes everyone completely addicted. The New York Times even described them as a “little companion for busy women in their twenties facing the stress of adulthood.” We’ve seen worse as therapy.

Smiski, Hello Kitty, and Other Cute Obsessions

In addition to Sonny Angel, Fioko Shop will also offer the famous Smiski, those little glow-in-the-dark figurines that quietly live in the corners of our apartments. You’ll also find other highly sought-after collections like Chiikawa, Mofusand, as well as collaborations with Hello Kitty and Monchhichi. Basically, a dangerous place for anyone who regularly says, “no but I can’t resist!”

That's the last one, I promise!

A pop-up shop... for now

Just a quick note: the opening is planned as a temporary event. But if it’s a hit—and let's be honest, we already know the answer—the shop could very well make a permanent home in Lille. Given how quickly these figurines are flying off the shelves everywhere else, it definitely feels like we might find ourselves a lasting address here!
