Taking the metro in Lille is now more expensive: here are Ilévia's new fares

Taking the metro, tram, bus, or V'Lille will cost a bit more starting August 1st. Single ticket, subscription, book of 10 journeys… Here's what you need to know about the new Ilévia rates and what's actually changing for users across the Lille metropolitan area.

Nearly every summer, it's the same appointment. And this year is no exception. Since August 1st, 2026, Ilévia has raised a large portion of its fares. An increase that concerns both individual metro/tram tickets and subscriptions as well as V'Lille. Here's a summary of what's changing.

The metro ticket rises to €1.90

This is probably the change that will be most noticed. The single Ilévia ticket goes from €1.80 to €1.90, while the ticket purchased by SMS also increases, from €2 to €2.10. The booklet of ten journeys now costs €16.60 compared to €15.80 previously. The 1-day pass climbs from €5.50 to €5.70, the general public monthly subscription goes from €65 to €67 and the annual subscription changes from €56.50 to €58.50. Good news anyway, the ZAP journey, very practical for short trips in central Lille, remains fixed at €1.20.

The V'Lille

they're experiencing increases too

Bike-sharing subscriptions are also affected by this price revision. The 24-hour pass increases from €1.85 to €1.90, the 7-day pass from €8.05 to €8.30, and the annual subscription for non-Illévia subscribers rises from €41.50 to €43. On the other hand, long-term Illévia subscribers can still enjoy free V'Lille bike-sharing, provided they request it and comply with standard usage conditions.

Why this price increase?

As every year, the Lille European Metropolis explains this rise by the need to offset inflation effects while continuing investments in the network. In 2026, the MEL is dedicating 707 million euros to transport, including notably the modernization of metro trains, the renewal of trams, and the development of the Extramobile project, which includes new tram and high-service-level bus lines.

Attractive benefits still in place

However, not everyone will be affected by thecond way. Under-18s living in the MEL continue to travel for free thanks to the Under-18 Pass, provided they have it and validate it for each journey. Social pricing is also maintained and allows, depending on household income, to benefit from reductions ranging from 50 to 87% on subscriptions. Finally, employers continue to cover 50% of the cost of transport subscriptions for their employees for commute journeys.
