Goodbye parking, hello urban park!

By 2028, forget about parking right next to the Sébastopol Theatre. The current 78 spots will melt away like snow in the sun, leaving just 17. What’s taking their place? A lovely green space where you can relax in the heart of Lille with over 1700 m² of greenery, 75 trees (up from 59 today) and a giant swing to take a trip down memory lane while enjoying some face-to-face chats. Just a heads-up: if you're a driver, it’s time to think about a plan B!

On the market side (Colbrant Street), the area is getting bigger and traffic will completely vanish. Between the stalls, you’ll soon be able to play ping-pong or hang out at the new urban games.

Inkermann Street goes bike-friendly

Right in front of the theater, there's a delightful refresh on Inkermann Street. The street is now one-way (heading from Sébasto to République), featuring a brand new double bike lane for a peaceful ride. In terms of aesthetics, it boasts 750 m² of planted spaces and elegant paved sidewalks (and they're permeable, which is great for our planet !).

The first changes are already noticeable: goodbye V’Lille station (now relocated to République Square), and farewell to parking on both sides. The current construction, which includes a temporary bike lane, is expected to be completed by the end of May 2025.

A transformation decided with the people of Lille

This transformation didn't just happen out of nowhere. For several months, residents and users of the neighborhood came together in workshops to envision green spaces, play areas, and traffic reorganization. The result? A greener, more serene place, though it will surely spark some debate (you can count on a few spicy discussions from the drivers' side...).

Meet us between 2027 and 2028 to discover the new Sebasto, the nature and relaxation version!

Place Sébastopol and rue Inkermann, Lille
