A few years ago, the city of Lille invited residents to vote for the renewal of Peuple Belge, with several options submitted. One of which was a total water restoration spanning 800m in the heart of Old Lille. Although this option was not ultimately selected, the association Renaissance du Lille Ancien continues to advocate for it! What do you think?

It was in June 2022, when almost everyone expected the canal on Peuple Belge Avenue to be restored, a twist occurred: the proposal for a park was chosen by the people of Lille. A park stretching nearly 1km. Still enough to make you dream! Nevertheless, the association Renaissance du Lille Ancien continues to make its voice heard and asserts that 73% of Lille residents are in favor of a total water restoration of the canal.

In the end, out of over 128,000 letters sent to the people of Lille to encourage them to vote, only 14,596 voters were recorded.

It's not really representative. The results of the votes? The park scenario received 3909 votes and came in second was the partial water restoration with... 3785 votes! Just a small handful of difference on which the association relies. "We need to be critical of the results. Scenario 1 came out on top but with a small margin compared to the other scenarios. By counting the votes from the other 3 scenarios that propose water features: 73% of the people from Lille want water at Avenue du Peuple Belge. We need to fight for this." What do you think?
