Imagine exploring all the beaches in the North without the hassle of being stuck in traffic? This is the dream of Xavier Bertrand, the President of the Hauts-de-France region. Yesterday, he informed the Minister of Ecology about his plan to introduce a regional metropolitan express service (SERM) specifically for the coast of Northern France. This ambitious project, worth 500 million euros, aims to cater to the increasing demand as Dunkirk is set to create 20,000 new jobs in the next 5 years. By establishing a coastal RER along our shores, the goal is also to ease the congestion on the A13 highway. Could we soon have high-speed connections between our beaches for a leisurely summer experience? We certainly hope so! In any case, Emmanuel Macron has also expressed his desire to see SERMs become more widespread in France. Stay tuned for the next episode!
