We knew Lidl for its low prices. It seems the retailer has decided we could go down another notch. Since September 10, 2026, a brand new Lidl Outlet has been welcoming customers to Marquette-lez-Lille, just a few kilometers from downtown Lille. And forget the yogurts, tomatoes, and that famous bakery section: here, no food products at all. The store's 638 m² are entirely dedicated to clearing out non-food items from the retailer, with advertised discounts ranging from -30 to -60%.
France's 4th Lidl Outlet has opened near Lille
And if you've never heard of Lidl Outlet, that's perfectly normal: the concept is still brand new in France. Lidl launched its first pilot stores in June 2025, including an initial location in Saint-Pierre-du-Perray, in Essonne. The idea: recover certain unsold non-food products from traditional supermarkets and offer them at heavily discounted prices instores entirely dedicated to clearance sales. Lidl announced discounts ranging from 30 to 60%. After Saint-Pierre-du-Perray, La Ciotat, and Drancy, Marquette-lez-Lille became the fourth French city to welcome the concept on September 10th. A fifth Lidl Outlet has since opened its doors on September 18th in Mauguio, near Montpellier.
Parkside, SilverCrest, Crivit… but no food products
Inside, there's no question of stocking up your fridge for the week. Lidl Outlets are reserved for unsold non-food items from the store's temporary collections. You'll find several departments: fashion and beauty, home and décor, sports and leisure, DIY and gardening, as well as seasonal products. And most importantly, a few brand names that regular shoppers know very well: Parkside for DIY, SilverCrest for small appliances and kitchen items, Crivit for sports, and Lupilu for children. Small appliances, tools, clothing, home accessories, sports equipment, garden items… the aassortment depends directly on available stock. In other words, you don't necessarily come with a shopping list. And knowing the strange power that a Parkside drill at -50% holds over us—even though we had no idea we needed one five minutes earlier—it's probably safer to leave that list at home.
Discounts reaching up to -60%
This is obviously where the concept becomes particularly interesting. When launching Lidl Outlet in France, the retailer officially announced products sold between -30 and -60% compared to their original price, with new arrivals each week and limited quantities. The concept allows Lidl to clear products that didn't sell in its regular stores rather than holding onto excess stock, while reselling them at significantly lower prices. Be warned though : clearance means variable stock and limited quantities. There's no guarantee that a product you spotted on Tuesday will still be sitting peacefully on the shelf come Saturday.
A 638 m² store set up in the old Lidl
To set up this new concept, Lidl didn't go far; very far away. The Lidl Outlet occupies 638 m² at 190 rue Lalau in Marquette-lez-Lille, in the premises of the former traditional Lidl supermarket. The latter had left the location a few months earlier to move to a former Auchan store in the municipality. A rather clever way to give the building a second life while testing a format still in full development in France. The store is currently indicated as open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am to 7pm.
Lidl wants to multiply its Outlet stores in France
And Marquette-lez-Lille apparently shouldn't remain in such an exclusive club for long. After launching two test stores in 2025, Lidl is now continuing to develop the concept. Information published around recent openings mentions a target of around ten Lidl Outlets in France. That said, for now, the network can still be counted on one hand. And with one of the five Lidl Outlets currently open in France located directly in the Lille metropolitan area, bargain hunters in the Northhad rather drawn the winning number.
