If you feel like the sun has taken a long vacation, don't worry, it's not your imagination playing tricks on you! Since the beginning of November, only 6 hours and 40 minutes of sunshine have been recorded at the Météo France station in Valenciennes. That’s an average of just 40 little minutes of sunshine per day. Let's just say you really had to be in the right place at the right time to catch those few rays.
Numbers three times lower than last November
These numbers are especially striking when compared to November 2022. Last year, the North enjoyed a total of 57 hours of sunshine—about 1 hour and 57 minutes each day. The contrast is astonishing: this year, the sun shines on average three times less, which explains the feeling of endless grayness in the region. And yet, November is never particularly bright in the North, but this year, the weather is really outdoing itself in terms of gloominess!
A drop in temperatures expected
Even though this grayness might be a bit depressing, Météo France wants to reassure you: the weather…
the trend might change in the coming days. A cold drop will soon sweep through the region, accompanied by a trailing sky, which could break through the cloud cover a bit.Unfortunately, this cold drop also brings a drop in temperatures : mornings could dip to around 4°C, with some capricious weather that will hesitate between a few clear spells and the return of rain. Let's just say the sunshine meter isn't going to go off the charts in the coming days… But when the sun finally returns, it will be appreciated more than ever !
