The Lille Metro is up to its tricks (again)

As part of the double train project, Ilévia is announcing new service interruptions on line 1 of the metro. Service will be suspended every Monday evening starting at 10:30 PM, from November 3rd to December 1st inclusive, as well as on Tuesday, December 2nd and Monday, December 22nd.
And that's not all: on Sunday, November 9th and Sunday, November 16th, trains will stop running from 1:30 PM until the end of service. The cherry on top: Tuesday, November 11th, there will be no metro at all—a whole day of forced rest for the trains, but not for the travelers!

Shuttle buses to keep things rolling

To make sure no one gets left behind on the platform, shuttle buses will be set up along the entire line. They will run every 8 to 10 minutes during the day, and every 15 minutes in the evening.
The Ilévia teams are also announcing enhanced information measures at the stations: displays, audio announcements, and on-site guides. All to ensure you won't find yourself wandering between stations, phone in hand, sighing in frustration.

The tram is also taking a break

On the tramway side, it's the Roubaix branch that's ringing the alarm a bit.
Between November 17 and 28, service will be interrupted in the evenings, from 10 PM until the end of service, between Croisé Laroche and Roubaix Eurotéléport. The reason? A leveling operation for the newly renovated tracks.
Here too, shuttle buses will step in, with a frequency of every 30 minutes. The lines...Tourcoing and the common trunk will continue to operate normally: a small consolation prize, we might say.

Why all this work now?

These interruptions are part of the extensive project to modernize the Lille metro. The goal? To welcome the new 52-meter trains, which will be more comfortable and twice as long, starting in February 2026.
In the meantime, the people of Lille will have to juggle their way through.temporary breakdowns, longer journeys, and bus rides: in other words, the urban living nightmare trio.
