A big first that will change New Year’s Eve nights in Lille
It’s official: on the night of December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026, the two lines of the Lille metro will run without interruption. This historic first was announced by Ilévia and, more importantly, it’s a measure that will be continued every year. In other words, it’s not a test, but a real turning point in how we celebrate New Year’s in Lille.
Specifically, from 8 PM to 1 AM, the frequency will be increased, with trains running very regularly on both lines. Starting at 1 AM, the metro will continue operating all night, with a train every 6 to 8 minutes. This means you can head home peacefully after dinner, a night out, a concert, or an impromptu dance party at a friend’s place, without worrying about missing the last metro.

Simpler, safer, more responsible
Behind this announcement, the goal is clear: to make festive travel easier, avoid complicated returns, and offer a real alternative to solo car rides. It’s also great news for safety, especially for late-night returns.
A direct consequence: the night line N1 won’t be operating tonight, with the metro fully taking over. Trams will also extend their service, featuring late departures from Lille-Flandres to Roubaix and Tourcoing, and maintaining a good frequency throughout the evening.
For those combining car and public transport, the park-and-ride facilities in the metropolis will stay open all night, except for those serving only the TER stations.
Lille finally offers a New Year's celebration worthy of its nights
Between bars, parties, restaurants, and private events, Lille has never lacked energy on New Year's Eve. All that was missing was a metro service to match it. Now, that’s a reality!one even more eager to say yes to the last invitation of the evening.
