Halfway between a flea market and an anti-waste initiative, the Wazemmes donation center invites residents to come drop off or pick up items for free during an entire afternoon. The idea is simple: circulate what’s sitting in closets instead of buying new. The event is organized by the Lille association Everything for the Planet, which promotes local initiatives aimed at reducing waste, reusing items, and fostering responsible consumption.

A flea market... but without money

The principle is quite delightful: everyone can come take up to five items for free, without needing to bring anything in exchange. Books, dishware, small everyday items, decor, or toys... anything still in good condition can find a new home. It's a tangible way to consume differently while preventing useful objects from ending up in the trash. The organizers talk about the joy of...

A donation center, a format that's becoming more and more popular in cities: we give, we receive, and everyone wins.

Drop off items in the morning, treasure hunt in the afternoon

For anyone who wants to participate on the donation side, you can drop off items in the morning between 10 AM and 12 PM. Then it’s time for the open donation event for the public from 1 PM to 5 PM. Everyone can browse through the available items and take home what they like. Good news: there's no obligation to take anything!

rsquo;to give to take. The goal is mainly to circulate items and encourage local recovery.

A simple gesture to consume differently

Behind the event, there’s also a desire to limit the purchase of new items and promote second-hand. In a neighborhood like Wazemmes, already known for its markets and local initiatives, this giving event fits perfectly with the spirit of the area: friendly, supportive, and a bit resourceful. So if you have a few items lying around at home, or simply feel like hunting for treasures for free, it’s definitely worth the trip.
