The Painful Twist of Fate

Yes, my friend, it's official. After an intense tug-of-war with the City, our beloved Bistrot Saint-So has had to close its shutters. L'Hirondelle, which managed the place, has been liquidated. We can't say this is great news for our beloved spot at Gare Saint-Sauveur.

A Goodbye, Not a Farewell

Since its opening in 2021, Bistrot Saint-So had become our friendly HQ, filled with lively evenings, exhibitions, and surprise concerts. But the harsh economic reality was stronger. After a court-ordered recovery last March, the verdict was delivered. But don’t worry, it’s not the end for the Bistrot itself. Gare Saint-Sauveur remains active, its cultural programming continues, and a new buyer is expected to breathe new life into the place.

A final lap for the Hirondelle

On Instagram, the team shared a heartfelt message, thanking everyone for three and a half years of celebration. One last shout: “The Hirondelle will not see spring again. The Hirondelle is gone. Long live the Hirondelle.”

So, what’s next?

The city assures that the bistro will reopen quickly, in compliance with all regulations. All eyes are now on the future buyer, who will have the challenging task of bringing this beloved spot back to life, a true symbol of Lille’s friendliness. A chapter closes, but the story of Saint-So is definitely not over.

Anyway, see you at the next round

So, it’s just a goodbye for now. The Bistrot Saint-So will return, and we’ll be there to welcome it back. In the meantime, let’s keep smiling and remember that the best is yet to come.
