We already knew Berck-Plage for its endless stretches of sand, its stunning sunsets, and those lovely beach walks. This summer, it's earning quite an unexpected title. According to a study conducted by the dating app happn, it's the beach in Hauts-de-France where single travelers have the best chances of making a romantic connection.

Berck-Plage makes the Top 5 beaches where people "crush" the most

To establish its ranking, happn looked at the matches and "Crushes" recorded on its app over the past three months. The result? Berck-Plage lands in 5th place in the national ranking, behind the beaches of Marseille, Biarritz, Valras-Plage, and Carnon. That's quite an achievement for this charming Côte d'Opale seaside resort, which becomes the first representative from Hauts-de-France in this top list. And if you want to stack the odds in your favor, the study goes even further: the best time to make a connection would be... Tuesday at 2pm. Yes, it's that specific.

More than one in three single people have already had a crush at the beach

This ranking is no coincidence. According to happn, more than a third of single people say they've already had a crush on a beach. Between vacations, long sunny days and the more relaxed beach vibes, it's not surprising that the shore is a hotspot for romance!

summer, meeting opportunities seem to be multiplying. But it's not always so idyllic. The study also reveals that one in five single people claim to have already experienced an uncomfortable situation on the beach, whether it's persistent stares, overly heavy flirting, or inappropriate whistling.

Meetings, yes... but with respect

To accompany this study, happn is partnering this summer with THE SORORITY, a mutual aid and solidarity app, to promote more respectful meetings. Together, they're launching the #SafeBeachCrush guide, which brings together advice and resources for responding to inappropriate behavior and reminds us of a few essential principles: consent, kindness, and respect. Awareness messages will also be shared directly in the happn app near the beaches featured in the ranking, including Berck-Plage. So if you were planning to enjoy a weekend on the Opal Coast, all that's left is to pack your sunscreen... and maybe some good conversation.
