This is an opening that many have been waiting for. After several years of planning, Otera is finally setting up shop in Lille! The brand, known for its fresh products sourced from local circuits, will open its very first store in the city on Friday, August 28, in a brand new food hall of 700 m², right across from Jean-Baptiste Lebas park.
The first Otera right in Lille
Until now, Otera regulars had to drive to Avelin, Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Saint-André-lez-Lille, or Wambrechies to shop. Starting this fall, there's no need to leave the city! The new store is opening on the ground floor of the former Jean-Macé college, right in the heart of the Station Sonar project, just across from JB Lebas park and a stone's throw from the Saint-Sauveur train station. This location has taken some time to come to fruition, but it finally brings life to this massive commercial hall that has remained empty for several years.
Local products straight from the producers
If Otera is so appealing, it’s thanks to its slightly different model compared to traditional large retailers. The store mainly collaborates with local producers, focusing on fresh, seasonal, and short supply chain products. The goal is to offer quality food while fairly compensating the producers. In the aisles, you’ll find everything that makes the store a success: fruits and vegetables, butcher shop, bakery, dairy, grocery, beverages, everyday essentials… with a strong emphasis on local products. This concept is increasingly attracting consumers who want to know where the items in their basket come from.
Great news for a neighborhood undergoing transformation
The opening of Otera also marks a new step in the transformation of the Jean-Baptiste Lebas area. The former Jean-Macé college already houses apartments and a daycare that opened last year. With this...the food hall, the neighborhood is gaining a highly anticipated new local shop. There’s still one last commercial unit available, set to welcome a future restaurant, to complete the whole area. With the development of Saint-Sauveur, new green spaces, the opening of shops, and many urban projects, the sector is gradually changing its face.
