A brand new modern pool for the Lille metropolitan area
By the summer of 2027, the Lille metropolitan area will have a new sports facility. A brand new swimming pool is set to be built in the eco-district of Fives Cail Babcock. This project is part of the pool plan 2, which aims to construct new pools to address the current shortage.
"At the heart of the eco-district Fives Cail Babcock, located both in Lille and Hellemmes, the pool of metropolitan interest will replace the pools in Fives and Hellemmes – each having 4 lanes in a 25m pool and suffering from significant wear – while increasing the aquatic offerings available, to respond to the serious lack of facilities in the area. While construction is set to begin in June 2025, the opening of the Fives-Hellemmes pool, estimated to cost 31 million euros (30% of which will be covered by the City of Lille), is planned for June 2027.
The...The pool will be ultra-modern and will address the issue of access for school students and sports clubs to learn swimming. On-site: swimming, of course, but also aquasport, baby swimming... And that's not all: "classified at the national level by the FFN, the new pool will be able to host competitions at the departmental level in swimming and artistic swimming, and at the European level in water polo".

A gigantic pool of 5000m2
The new pool promises to be THE favorite spot for sports enthusiasts. With a total area of 5,000m2, 500m2 will be dedicated to outdoor spaces. The new aquatic center will feature:
- A swimming pool measuring 33m with 8 lanes, equipped with movable floor and wall (allowing it to be resized in height and/or width to suit various activities);
- A learning and leisure pool of 200m2 ;
- Water areas dedicated to very young children; bleachers with a capacity of 200 seats;
- Outdoor spaces: water play areas and a mineral solarium.
