Looking for an outing a little more original than your typical autumn stroll? Head to Douai. During the All Saints' holidays, Arkéos will transform into a pirate city, complete with battles, shows, workshops, and crews that are anything but discreet.
An entire city falls into the hands of pirates
From October 17 to November 1, 2026, the Fantastical Medievals return to Arkéos with an edition entirely dedicated to pirates. Encampments, demonstrations, workshops, and activities will take over the archaeological park, with a setting that's already quite fitting: Arkéos has an actual medieval reconstruction zone. Let's just say it's slightly more convincing than three barrels placed in front of a town hall.

Battles, stunts and blackpowder gunfire on October 17th and 18th
The big highlight happens on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th. On the schedule: pirate shows, sword fights, stunts, singing, dancing and blackpowder gunfire. The show Pirates, Parrot and Betrayal will be performed several times a day, while the company Les 7 Bras will bring the world of 18th century privateers back to life. Children can also take part in boarding games with foam swords, obstacle courses and treasure hunts.
A craft market in the city
During this first weekend, a craft market will also set up in the park. Jewelry, books, games, fantastical objects and handmade creations will be on offer from 10am to 6:30pm. A workshop will even let you make your own pirate amulet.
Activities throughout the entire break
Even after the first weekend, the pirates will stick around. On October 24th and 25th, new activities are planned with encampments and wandering performers
theatrical performances. Then, for Halloween, Arkéos will organize a big treasure hunt throughout the park on October 31st and November 1st. Workshops centered around treasure chests, flags, treasure pouches and tricorn hats will also be available during the school holidays.A fun All Saints' outing just 40 minutes from Lille
Located in Douai, Arkéos is about 40 minutes from Lille and makes for an easy full-day outing. And between the swords, black powder shooting, encampments and the medieval town, you have to admit the setting really does the trick.
